I love Wendy! Kids love Wendy!
After I first met Wendy 8 years ago, I realized that all parents' expectations for kids are the same regardless of culture and background. Since most parents including myself are first generation immigrants and our kids are growing up in Canada most parents do not realize how important and challenging good analysis, critical thinking and writing skills are for our kids, especially after grade 9. If there is no help or guidance most kids can't achieve a 90+ score which may impact their averages when they apply for university. Even if your kids are born here that doesn't mean their writing skills will be good enough. It's also about their critical thinking and analytic skills. Wendy teaches and guides kids to polish their thinking models which are the base of strong communication skills. The second reason why I love Wendy is that she does not only teach English but she also knows how to inspire young people. I can never forget how she guided my son to cut back on his video gaming time to more consistently dedicate himself to his academic and life goals. He is now a successful undergraduate studying engineering in Duke university in the US.

I first met Dr. Kumeta in Grade 9. As a naïve young immigrant, I suffered from numerous challenges, both academically and socially. Dr. Wendy Kumeta is the English teacher that changed my daughter’s academic life when it came to her high school English & Creative Writing. While her regular school taught her the basics of English writing, Dr Kumeta was the positive force that gave her the tools to excel in her English development. I am delighted to inform you that I ultimately got into all my target programs (CE, CFM, and CS) at Waterloo with a top 6 average of 99.2 back in June! I have you to thank for this; your lessons in English were probably the deciding factor in my grades as the English courses were some of my highest - with a 98 in ENG4U and a 99 in ETS4U. As for what I am doing this summer, I’m glad to inform you that I got the internship I wanted at RBC as an Innovation Developer! They only took 21 students out of 1200 supposed applicants so I am guessing the presentation skills you helped me develop over the school year definitely helped set me apart from others during the interview process.
